(Info from Gary Kazin ) **** Info for weekend trips to MFD via BUS and TRAIN **** BUS: Lakeland Bus, Port Authority Bus Terminal, Gate 206 (2nd level) Website: lakelandbus.com Lakeland Bus provides weekend service along Boulevard Street. Travel time is about 55 minutes each way. Buses leaving Port Authority Bus Terminal gate 206 ON THE HALF HOUR run via Boonton and will stop at Briarcliff Drive on request to the driver. BUSES LEAVING ON THE HOUR DO NOT RUN ON BOULEVARD STREET; they stop on US 46 nearly 2 miles away. It is too far to walk, so someone will need to drive there and pick you up. Enter the bus terminal between 40th and 41st streets, near the Jackie Gleason statue. From the 1/2/3 and N/R/Q trains, use the transfer hallway to the A/C/E and turn left, then follow signs to the Port Authority bus terminal. The 11:30am bus from NYC goes through Boonton and reaches Lake Road at 12:30. That is the street AFTER Briarcliff Road. When boarding bus, tell the driver to stop at Briarcliff Road where there's a parking lot and he will. It is a short walk downhill to the Mountain Lakes Community Church, which is at the corner of Briarcliff Road and Barton Road. Enter from Barton Road. The return bus stops at :20; wave at the bus when it comes into sight. The shelter, a block west at Lake Drive, is a good place to wait. (ALL PRICES STATED BELOW ARE RECENT but they infrequently go up. Check with appropriate websites to confirm rates.) Adult fare for the bus is $11.25 each way. Senior fare (62+) is $5.60; passengers should buy ROUND TRIP tickets; cash fare paid to the driver when returning will be charged at the full price. Buy tickets at machines near the entrance to the gate, or from agents on the main level at windows 1-10 at Port Authority. The agent requires proof of age for the senior fare, but the machines do not. Cash, credit or debit cards accepted. TRAIN: New Jersey Transit Train, Penn Station, to DENVILLE. There is no Boonton Line service on weekends. A/C/E, 1/2/3, B/D/F, N/Q/R subways to 34th St. Ticket vending machines are in the NJ Transit concourse near Seventh Avenue and in the Amtrak concourse near Eighth Avenue. Agents are only in the NJ Transit concourse; Amtrak agents do not sell NJ Transit tickets. Senior citizen tickets at age 62, agent may ask for proof of age, machine doesn't. Buy two senior citizen tickets - they don't sell round trips but the tickets can be used in either direction. Senior citizen fare is $12.50 round trip. Track assignments will be announced and posted on monitors about 10 minutes before scheduled departure. The 11:11am train reaches Denville at 12:40. Someone will need to drive there and pick you up. Trains to New York leave at 10 minutes after the hour; be there at least five minutes early. OLD PA Bus INFO: There's an elevator that goes to 4th floor instead of taking escalators. From the A/C/E trains, this is near the downtown end of the uptown platform and about the middle of the downtown platform.
